This is Swix's price point introductory nordic ski pole. The shaft is a cylindrical 5086 aluminum. Aluminum is a whole lot less likely to break than a inexpensive fiberglass pole when you are out on the trail. The aluminum Swix Nordic Alu may bend and get ugly (we think a broken pole is even more ugly than a bent pole). This pole comes with a fixed asymmetric touring basket, a straight loop strap and a firm plastic grip
